> Tough trail ride
Day 118 -Tuesday 26th Jan - 11,543km, Mamfe, Cameroon
With my visa finally sorted this morning after some delicate discussions with the immigration chief, I finally set off on 70 of the most grueling km's I've had to endure the entire trip. Following a notoriously treacherous dirt track as it wound its way relentlessly up and down through the jungle, I frequently had to resort to pushing and was soon caked in sweat and sand. It's easy to see why the route becomes impassable during the wet season and even now only a handful of clapped out vehicles came careering past. Eventually arriving in Mamfe I've once again hit the jackpot on the accommodation front with a local Cameroonian kindly offering to put me up at his family's house despite my feral appearance! Politely swallowing down various valves and bits of liver in some pepper soup I just got served was a small price to pay for a bed to sleep in after today's trail riding.
