Day 43, 4640km,  125km south of Dakhla, Western Sahara

With distances between petrol stations and settlements now sometimes 100k or more I'm having to take every available opportunity to load Bertha up with essential supplies, including up to 9 litres of water, particularly as my speed is so determined by the unpredictable winds. The excellent news is I've discovered the Moroccan equivalent to malt loaf, although not as dense or fruity it's still reassuring to have its presence in my bags and it shows the market is ripe for Soreen to exploit - I'd be happy to lead the marketing strategy! Having come across some smart deserted police buildings just before dusk I've taken up residence with the current squatters who even have a radio tuned in to the police one and a look out so they can scramble if the gendarme's or army show up!

Hey Rob,

I justed wanted to tell you another time, how impressed I am of what you're doing.

You'll do it, I'm sure!

Stopping with an ejjit cycling through Western Sahara

I spoke to Rob on the road yesterday just south of Ad Dakhla, I had to return to get VISA for Mauritania, so stopped with him to check he had one before reaching the border and having to cycle 400km back. To all his family and friends (and girlfriend!) he is in good sprits for the long straight windy sand blasting roads here in Western Sahara, is fit and well. Would have liked to spend more time speaking with him, top man! I’ll be keeping an eye out for him once I ride south with my Mauritanian VISA. Good luck my friend and I think you’re an ejjit for trip you’re on!!  The adventure of a lifetime...
