> On top of North Africa
Day 34 - Imlil, Morocco. So my light weight cycling attire, every last item of it, stood up to the sub zero mountainous challenge that is Mount Toubkal and I reached the 4167m summit this morning to savour another malt loaf moment on the highest point in North Africa! The scenery and views were truly spectacular and it was great to have the company of English lads George, Mike and Matt at times during the 2 day trek - unfortunately, as it later transpired, this was much to the annoyance of their guide who was really more of a glorified rest designator on a well worn track!. To cap off an awesome couple of days away from Bertha I even got a brilliant sighting of two very rarely seen and endangered bearded vultures (lammergeiers), a species I had been hoping to catch a glimpse of!
Tomorrow the 2000m + Tizi-n-Test Atlas pass beckons for me and Bertha. Described as a white knuckle ride by car and not for the faint hearted in guide books, it will be interesting to see how I fare on two wheels!
