> Fire Festival surprise
Day 89, 8926 km, Tamale, Ghana
Camping wild last night couldn’t have been worse timed as it coincided with the “fire festival” which meant not only were we treated to some eerie African drumming and chanting through the night but we were also constantly under threat of being BBQ’d with nearby bush fires coming worryingly close. So after a restless night, a number of long hot days on the road and with tender legs and bums in need of a break, we’ve decided to take a day off in Tamale, which presents a great opportunity to continue with Ghanaian street food experimentation and maybe even start some comrades training!

While we are struggling along
While we are struggling along on sheets of ice with now predicted, try not to sweat too much with your marathon training! I am enjoying the photos you are posting, I had no idea what these areas looked like until now.
Some of the Tri club went to the lake on Boxing Day with a view to a dip but the edges were frozen! Rather them than me. I have now purchased a racing bike but so far I have had a good excuse every Saturday not to go out on it - it’s very clean.
Look after yourself and we’ll keep watching out for you.
Lynn
