Day 57, 5907km, Djoudj National Park, Senegal
Leaving St Louis this morning we had to dodge and weave our way through countless goats tethered outside peoples houses or being moved in the frenzy of buying and selling that is proceeding the Eid celebration on Saturday. Arriving at the Djoudj National Park (regarded as one of the best bird watching sites in the world) in good time we opted to make the most of a rare bit of leisure time by exploring by bicycle! We were rewarded with great sightings of flamingos, pelicans, egrets, herons and ospreys to mention a few and are now camping in the parks research centre - though I think the only research that goes on is to discover the maximum number of hours per day a human is capable of sleeping for.
Comments:
Good spot
Looks a very good spot to spend a weekend and re-charge batteries. Don't move, catch some sleep and hopefully a few decent, balanced meals! I see you lost some latitude to get there and have to turn south again soon! Go well Robbo! Clem & Sue
Eid Mubarak
Asalam wa-laikum Forbes!
Eid ul Adha Mubarak! Eid starts from Margrib prayer today through to tomorrow in the uk-so consider this as my usual Eid Mubarak text to you! You probably have a better chance at having a more authentic Eid than I will -have to do half a day in the office! Doing the family greetings/visits/food indulging in the morning and back to the grind!
Rico and I getting loads of tennis action on the firm at the ATP tour in london-you are missed from the eco-geeks massive!
Your photos are brilliant...I'm not sure about that hair cut though...you look like some weird birdlife/dinosaur-esq creature?!
Keep cycling, lots of chips-beanz-toast encouragement!
