> Nigerian radio interview
Day 110 – Monday 18 January – 10,676 km, Ido Ijesho, Nigeria (Camping)
Completely by chance the timing of my appearance on Nigerian radio co-incided with the Monday morning weekly travel programmme and this week’s feature, unbelievably, was on South Africa and the 2010 World Cup! Distracted by travel advice questions on South Africa, I completely forgot to plug both Re~Cycle and the website again, but it was a fun experience and the day’s riding that followed was very scenic as the traffic decreased and the terrain became more rugged and forested. It was also great to see so many people in colourful hand tailored traditional outfits and there are some cracking ‘his & hers’ and ‘family’ sets around. I’m not so sure about the ubiquitous facial scaring though, which usually focuses around the eyes and represents family groups and tribes or is inflicted on children at a very young age to either rid or protect them from evil spirits. Judging by some of the young men’s scarring, I think there might be a designer element too!

Well done
Hi Rob. Well done! You seem to have covered a pretty tough bit of Africa in the last few days! And the map says you are going East not South! We look forward to your right turn down towards us soon. Nice to see the batch of photos posted on the Dodowa website.
Cricket series ended in a draw. Teams very evenly matched and draw probably best result. Very exciting series good for 'Test' cricket here - big crowds with intense interest. I think Barmy Army also enjoyed it!
We hold thumbs for a few smooth weeks, mimimum punctures, good food and cold beers for you.
Love Sue & Clem
