Day 222 - Mon 10 May ~ 18,832km, Middelburg, South Africa
South African's are certainly proving to be a hospitable bunch that appreciate a good sporting challenge as once again I find myself with free accommodation and even all I can eat pork and mash courtesy of the lovely Francis at Toe Word Ons Dors B&B. Turning up late in the day looking utterly exhausted having cycled over 18,000km certainly helps and my pitch is becoming finely polished. It's a good job because today's hilly terrain was surprisingly tough with my legs so stiff from yesterday's confidence boosting 4hr run\trot - the longest I've ever run for by over an hour! I also wasted considerable time today searching the roadside undergrowth for my lucky cap, which was whipped off by the back draught of a passing lorry, only to discover that it had miraculously got stuck on one of my flag sticks - an occurrence as probable as Nelson Mandela being Bafana Bafana's top scorer this summer!
Special thanks to Francis & Family, I hope you get well soon and enjoy the travels.

helo robby !
I just saw you finally arrived in your second mother-country, good job man !
but just a question : how can you eat sausages and bacon when a lot of delicious fake-biscuits are waiting for you, all over Africa ?
