> Fast as an Ostrich
Day 220 - Sat 8 May ~ 18,736km, Groblersdal, South Africa
I'm not sure if it was last night's moonshine, the thumping tunes until my normal wake up time or the unbelievable excess of birthday cake I consumed but I was feeling rotten this morning and it took a good few hours spinning for the effects to wear off.
Passing more private game reserves along the way I've had some cracking wildlife sightings over the last few days and I'm proud to say that on one particular downhill me and Bertha managed to overtake a spooked ostrich running parallel to the road at close to 50kph.
Moving into a mountainous region the scenery is beautiful, if more challenging and the roads are now lined with citrus, wine and cattle farms so vast that they have their own staff villages and football pitches. Other road users look like being my biggest danger in SA and with no hard shoulder I'm frequently being forced off the road by hooting trucks.
Accomodation isn't quite free tonight but I've manage to negotiate a great deal at a lekker guest house (as the Afrikaans would say).

As always best care near the end, or else!
I wish you well in finding your running legs I'm sure you'll find the crouds an interesting contrast.
All the very best for your miles to come I guess in many ways it is just the start not the end.

Pete
