> Angolan dance off
Day 196 - Wed 14th April, 16298km, Cahama, Angola
Washed, cleanly clothed and ready for action at dawn this morning within two minutes of leaving the house I caught my pannier on a dirt rut, was unable to unclip my foot and ended up sprawled in an undignified heap in a filthy puddle much to the amusement of some passing kids. Loaded with enough supplies to make it to SA and beyond courtesy of my ever generous hosts and sluggish from last night’s potjiekos (delicious Afrikaans stew) excess, I initially wondered if I’d even get beyond Lubango’s suburbs but in no time I was flying along thanks to flat terrain and smooth roads. Taking full advantage over ten hours actually riding time, I was able to rack up my first 200km day for a few months, although I’ve hit the dirt roads again now so tomorrow will be a different story.
I also spent a few nervous minutes waiting for an official to take my passport details, thankfully he totally failed to notice my long expired visa. Now camping in the town of Cahama my stay has coincided with a hugely entertaining dance contest that includes acts ranging from truly explicit gyrating, that only rhythmical Africans can get away with, to some strictly come dancing style partner swings.

Grace & Charlotte look forward to seeing your photos of the dance comp!
Good news!
Spurs beat Arsenal last night 2-1. Ends hopes of an Arsenal league win (sad for me!) and probably guaranrees Spurs the 4th spot they want for next season! (happy for you!) Spurs have apparently not beaten Arsenal in any Premiership game for 11 years? Your news seems all good (apart from the fall)! Mileages good, food good, scenery etc. May it long continue.
