> Camping wild
Day 88, 8830 km, Kukobila, Ghana
Christmas day was a delightfully basic affair spent camping wild amongst elephant dung in the Po National Parc. Much to my relief we then crossed into Ghana yesterday, my first English speaking country of the trip and we’ve been sprouting English greetings to friendly locals ever since, though my shire twang remains beyond most Ghanaians comprehension. It’s been great to share life on the road with Helen and she’s been amazing in overcoming 40c temperatures and local attention while riding 80 km days. Unfortunately though, either the trauma of washing my cycling shorts or the local banku (corn dough) and appropriately named shito sauce (incredibly slimy fish sauce) we had for dinner last night has turned her stomach. A bit of magic Forbes tlc or more likely the cold coke and prospect of sleeping under the African stars and she’s already on the mend.
