Day 134 – Thursday 11 February – 12,496km, Nkolmengboua, Gabon

There was a jovial atmosphere along the road today with everyone on holiday for National Youth Day and we passed countless smartly dressed school kids on their way to public parades. Making good progress we crossed, surprisingly easily, into Gabon where we instantly made friends thanks to Leo starting a football ‘keep em up’ competition using your knees and offering a Brasilian shirt as the prize. With England and Brasil underperforming, thanks to the continuous hills, a very happy local kid took the prize! Rather appropriately we’re now camping on a football pitch and have even found a table on which to eat a civilised dinner.
