> To Gabon and back
Day 131 – Monday 8 Feb – 12,199km, Yaounde, Cameroon
Sticking to my sustainable principles, I set out early this morning on Bertha to find the Gabon embassy with a woefully inadequate map torn from the guidebook. An hour and a half later I was still dodging bicycle blind taxis totally lost in a city with no street names and had to resort to paying a taxi driver to escort me to the embassy. I was then made to wait outside on the street for an hour before being stung for an extortionate visa express service, so that we can hit the road again as soon as possible. While I’m having no problems enjoying our luxury hotel, I’m also ready to go back to roughing it, particularly as I think the staff are of the opinion that I am Leo’s toy boy, a perception not helped by him walking around in the kind of Brazilian speedos that could get you arrested for indecent exposure!
