> Embracing life on the road
Day 133 – Wednesday 10 February – 12,371km, Ebolowa, Cameroon
Although Leo is struggling to acquire a taste for Cameroon street cuisine, he has embraced my budget accommodation requirements giving up air conditioning and showers while also putting up with me crashing on the floor. Much to my amusement he also went for his first ‘wild one’ today, returning from the bushes with wet feet to comically recount the experience. With his load lightened he showed impressive endurance in covering over 150 kilometers through rainforest terrain to arrive late afternoon in Ebolowa. With the town’s power down, I was so distracted by some grilling fish heads, when searching out some street food in the gloom, that I walked straight into a lethal 0.5m deep roadside drain and ended up sprawled on the pavement. Luckily I escaped with only some bruising and a leg smelling like Leo’s toilet bush!
