> Desparate hut wives
Day 202 - Tues 20th April, 17110km, Shipando, Namibia
Family privacy seems to hold much more importance in Namibian culture than in other African countries and once again I've been invited to camp in a beautiful traditional family compound. Despite living off the land and scrambling for the bit of dinner I could spare, there is a satellite on one of the huts! I'm also rapidly discovering that with the men working away in towns these traditional compounds are full of lonely women (and kids) more than happy to have a male to look after, tonight I even got welcome mats put out for me along with a table and chair!
I didn't travel all that far today having been for a 1hr 30mins run this morning along the Okavango and stocked up on supplies for the long haul away from civilisation to Maun. However, I did hit the 17,000km mark which means I'm now way ahead of the £'s raised for re-cycle despite everyones overwhelming generocity. If you are yet to donate or fancy adding more to the pot, it will always be appreciated by the charity and myself, especially with the challenge of Comrades yet to come! Special thanks to Patsy, Jason and Jess who are Namibia charity donor of the moment, I look forward to seeing you very soon!
