Day 106, 10,199 km, Save, Benin – staying in a guest house
After a brief run this morning to teach my legs that there’s more to life than cycling, I made the most of being in Abomey & took a tedious French tour of the rather disappointing Royal Palaces. Back on the road was far more exciting as I came across a variety of bush meat for sale including antelope, snakes, squirrels and bbq’d rodents on a stick – it’s no wonder wild life is so scarce. Talking of rarities, I also came across my first Spurs shirt in 10,000 km, a bright yellow 90’s away shirt no less! Stopping to congratulate him for representing THE club of the future, I was more than happy to forgive him for thinking the team are called holsten, that England is in America and my excitement represented a sales opportunity. I’ve headed north to make the most of Benin, finish up my CFA currency and cross into Nigeria away from the major cities and roads in the south.
